Youth of the Year (YOY)

Okay, we're rock 'n rolling in this program. In the past, our Clubs have had FOUR state winners make it to Regionals in DisneyLand!. Two of our YOY Club members received a $25,000 scholarship from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation. (Each year the scholarship funds vary.)

Youth of the Year, nationally sponsored by the Reader's Digest Foundation, is designed to promote and recognize service to Club and community, academic performance and contributions to family.

On a local level, the winning teen receives a certificate and a medallion and competes at the state level. The state winner receives a plaque, $4000 scholarship, one-year tution scholarship at the University of Alaska, and enters the BGCA Pacific Regional Competition held at DisneyLand. The regional winner enters the national competition in Washington, D.C. At the the national level, the winning Youth of the Year receives an additional $10,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States.

Club members ages 14-18 are eligible to participate and must be an active Club member for at least two consecutive years. Contact your local Club for more information.
